How email outreach works

  1. Connect your own mailbox. Gmail (with an app password) or any address on your own domain. Your login is stored encrypted, and you can remove it at any time.
  2. Write your own emails. A first email and up to four follow-ups. Drop in each business's name, type, city and more from its verified details, or start from a ready-made example.
  3. Add your approved leads and press Start. Emails go out from your address, and replies arrive in your normal inbox and on your funnel page.

Built to protect your mailbox and your reputation

Cold email can hurt the mailbox it is sent from, so sending is deliberately careful:

  • Business hours only. Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, in the time zone you choose.
  • One at a time. A pause between every email instead of a burst.
  • A gradual start. A new mailbox begins at 10 emails a day and ramps up over two weeks to your daily limit, which is never more than 50.
  • Automatic pauses. Sending slows if too many emails bounce, and stops if we can't check your inbox, so a STOP request is never missed.
  • Checked addresses. Addresses with no working mail server are skipped, not sent.

We recommend a separate mailbox rather than your main business inbox, and we can't promise an email will reach an inbox.

Opt-outs and the rules

Every email ends with your business address and a plain line telling people they can reply STOP. Anyone who does, and anyone whose address bounces, goes on your do-not-email list and is never emailed again by any of your funnels. Follow-ups stop once a lead replies. Nothing in your emails points to a Lead Engine link, so opting out is just a reply.

You are the sender, so you are responsible for following the rules that apply to you and your recipients, such as CAN-SPAM, and GDPR and PECR for the UK and EU. We build in the basics. We don't give legal advice.

How many emails you can send

Each plan includes as many emails a month as its lead allowance, and every email counts, including follow-ups: Starter 100, Growth 250, Pro 600, Agency / Custom 1,500. Each mailbox also has its own daily limit, and you can connect up to five mailboxes. Email outreach isn't part of the free trial, which covers the leads themselves. See pricing.
